Albertville – Don Spurlin, Republican candidate for State Senate District 9, on Thursday said he strongly opposes the Obamacare health care legislation that recently passed Congress and firmly believes that health care is not a right, but a privilege. Local businessman Don Spurlin announced his candidacy for the Alabama Senate seat for District 9, which includes all of Marshall County, along with parts of Madison, and Blount Counties.
Spurlin, who is a member of the Republican Party, said his main two focuses are increasing economic development in the area and ethics reform. (read more)

Businessman cites experience, focuses on jobs, schools
ALBERTVILLE - Albertville businessman Don Spurlin announced Friday he will run in 2010 in the Republican primary for the District 9 State Senate seat of Sen. Hinton Mitchem, D-Union Grove.
Spurlin, 52, said he will use his 30 years of experience in real estate, development, construction and other businesses to help create more jobs and improve schools. (read more)
